Foodie Adventuring // Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills
Turns out, the day before July 4th, the office becomes a ghost town. Not only has everyone else taken the day off, but there's really no work to be done. And we had four interns in today. It worked out okay though because we got the chance to sit and talk and read previous issues of the mag and ask people in other departments if they needed any help. Plus. Maria, Rainbow, and I went to Sprinkles after work to take advantage of their BOGO word of the day: "hot from the oven." We felt super awkward whispering that to the girls behind the counter...
Originally, we tried going to the Sprinkles location on La Cienaga {which I didn't know existed, but somehow Maria found it online?}, but they weren't actually open. So we braved the South Santa Monica/Rodeo Drive traffic to get to the Beverly Hills location. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CARS ON THE ROAD. Sigh. We left the office at 1 PM {we had half day, so no, we didn't skip out early to get cupcakes} and still hadn't parked by 1:40 PM. LA-- where the traffic's so bad, you should've just walked.
Once we found a parking space though, the rest was easy. No line when we walked in, very sweet girls behind the counter, and really quick service. I got the Lemon Blueberry and a Red Velvet, Rainbow got a Black & White and a Red Velvet, and Maria got the Triple Cinnamon and a Red Velvet. Starting to see a theme here? Hey, don't mess with a good thing.
Rainbow and I still have yet to try Sprinkles Ice Cream-- Maria recommends the vanilla cone over the red velvet, in terms of taste. If you're going for novelty, however, get the red velvet cone. Just notes for another day. (:
We talked about summer bucket lists and Maria's plans to move to New York for grad school and just random stuff. The three of us don't know each other super well, so it did get a little awkward at times, but that's fine. What's life without a few awkward encounters? 'Sides. This round of awkwardness came with a side of awesome cupcakes and a few new things to add to the Summer To-Do List. Sounds good to me.
