The Weekender, No. 10: Pretty. Delicious. Guts.

For a New Locale to Explore: I Heart Guts Pop-Up Shop

{healthy hearts vs black hearts}
Honestly, some of their gut taglines make me cringe a little. But since they also make me laugh, I guess it evens out.

If you've never heard of I Heart Guts, it's this company that sells organ plushies with faces. Their plushies are actually rather cute, if a little... odd. I have nerdy friends from high school, so appreciation of biology humor {and chem humor and physics humor} comes with the territory.

In light of Valentine's Day, I Heart Guts has set up their own pop-up shop {a temporary storefront for an online business for those of you not in the know} in Los Angeles and 10% of the money they earn there is going to help out a charity. I really want to check out this place-- sounds quirky and geeky and I like it. *grins* Anyone want to give me a ride?

For the Next Potential Culinary Venture: Cookie Dough Cheesecake

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake
{because this looks sooo amazingly healthy... right?}
Short ingredients list, easy instructions? Approve. Mayhaps I'll try this for Junior-Freshman Dessert Night in a few weeks. I still haven't figured out what to bring yet...

For Wishful Thinking: UO's Suede & Leather Oxford Heel in Tan

{so I'm a little preppy, what can I say?}
Aren't they pretty? Aaand they're on sale. But one of the disadvantages of having small feet is that I usually can't buy pretty shoes. They're all too big. *sigh* Someone buy these and wear them for me, kays?

For Those Bursts of Creativity: Painted Soup Cans

{from the blog: For the Love}
I love spray paint and we have a lot of bottles and cans hanging around, so why not make them pretty? This is an easy project that looks like I can do while living in the apartments, so as soon as someone's willing to drive me to Home Depot or Walmart {for spray paint}, these will happen.

For Pure Aesthetic Pleasure: Walnut Paperie

Walnut Paperie
{from their homepage}
Emily, over at Cupcakes and Cashmere, uses this company to print her business cards and goshdarnit, they're so cute! I personally love Moo.com, but for those with a bigger budget, this should definitely be an option. Pretty...

  2. I have the Heart of Gold pin by them, just because I figure I can cover multiple fandoms with it (Firefly, Hitchhiker's Guide, general biology...does the last one count as a fandom?). I got it at Comic-con and fell in love with their plushies, too.

  4. Mickeyla & Cindy, the pop-up shop is only open until Valentine's Day though, so if you want to visit, you must go soon!

    And Rebecca, thanks for dropping by! If I do decide to make the cheesecake for that event in a few weeks, I'll be sure to post an update on how it turned out! *grins*
