You Know It's Officially Girl Scout Cookie Season When...

You know it's officially Girl Scout Cookie season when you see a really long line on Bruinwalk that has nothing to do with free stuff.

Seriously.

These girls are devious.

They hit us when we're weak.
{aka, right before/during Finals week}

And they're persistent.

They're everywhere.

*wide-eyed*

Why must you tempt us so?!?

They seriously make a killing off of hungry, sleep-deprived, homesick college kids.

It's kind of sad really-- like the old saying goes, it's like shooting feeshies in a barrel.

We've got no defenses.

We're doooomed.

You Know You're a Power-Walking Pro When...

Pinned Image
{rose colored pencil skirt}
You know you're too used to speed-walking when you out-distance everyone walking down Bruinwalk while in business flats and a pencil skirt with a kickpleat.

Not a bad feat when you consider I'm shorter, and therefore have less leg, than more than half of those people.

You Know You Look Too Comfortable When...

You know you look at home and in charge when people start asking you where things are in someone else's kitchen.

Last night, we had Freshman-Junior Dessert Night and I got to be in charge of food. Personally, I love being involved with behind-the-scenes stuff and making sure everything goes off without a major catastrophe, so this was super fun in my eyes.

But it was hilarious how people in our class started asking me where the {real} utensils {as opposed to plastic ones} were and where they could get plates to put their baked goods on and all this other stuff related to things in the apartment when the event wasn't even held in my apartment.

It was held in a guys' apartment.

And seeing as how I am quite significant-other-less, I don't know where they would have gotten the impression that I'd spent enough time there to know all this.

*laughs* I suppose whatever impression they did have wasn't lessened by the fact that I was actually able to get them what they needed and on the first try.

In my defense, the guys seemed to have organized their kitchen logically {so when I made educated guesses, I was usually right}, PLUS their apartment was my small group leader's apartment when I was a freshman/sophomore. And they didn't change things around too much.

I do love that rushed excitement that comes with planning and pulling off an event. Some people's job at Dessert Night was to talk to the freshies, others spent the night refilling trays and cleaning up messes. Both are equally important and I think our efforts paid off. Good job, guys! I think you all are wonderful. <3

You Know You've Gotten Used to Having Roomies When...

You know you've gotten used to living with roommates when Lady Gaga, Beyonce, & all the songs on the Top 100 charts are blasting from the computer next to you, but you're still listening to podcasts of Social Psych lectures and taking notes.

Not bad, self, not bad at all...

You Know Your Parents are Too Cool For You When...

You know you're still not used to having a parent on facebook when you go to the Search bar and type in 'Mom'.

It didn't work.

Sadness.

You Know You're Not in High School When...

Pinned Image
{hey. at least we showed up to class at all.}
You know you're no longer in high school when...

... as soon as everyone's phones say 10:44 am, the entire class starts packing up their things and leaving, even though the teacher's still talking.

Yeap.

None of this "The bell doesn't dismiss you-- I DO" business.

We dismiss ourselves.

Whoa now.

*laughs*

College professors must hate that about us.

Although I'm one of those dorks who sits there at least until the teacher finishes talking. Even if I can't hear her over the scraping of chairs and stomping of feet.

Oh. And just to clarify, class ends at 10:45 am.

{soundtrack of today: Fly by Nicki Minaj. I'm not in lovelove with the music video, but I love the song. *midtermsATTACK*}

You Know You're Short When...

Reach out
{this is probably what I looked like trying to reach the candy, too}
You know you're short when you stick a box of Whoppers up on the highest shelf of the cabinet so that you're not tempted, and then two weeks later, when you give in because you're planning on studying all night and want the sugar, you pull up a kitchen chair and even standing on your tiptoes on the kitchen chair, you STILL can't reach the box.

Sometimes, it sucks to be short.

You Know You're Too Old for Welcome Week When...

You know you're too old for Welcome Week when you walk over to the dorms for the Vendors Fair with your roommate and both of you know people who are working the booths.

You know you're too old for Welcome Week when all you can think when you see the incoming freshmen is "Wow. They're getting smaller & more hyper every year..."

You know you're too old for Welcome Week when you see someone with a course reader and turn to your roommate with "Drat. She's got a course reader. That means course readers are available. Drat." It's even better when the response you get is "Ew."

You know you're too old for Welcome Week when you walk to the dorms and go "Oh. That building wasn't there before... Or that one... Or that one... Hm. They're not very pretty."

You know you're too old for Welcome Week when you aren't all excited about meeting new people your first night back, but rather, spend the entire first weekend in your apartment with your roomie on separate computers. Whoot?

You know you're too old for Welcome Week when you go to bed at 11 pm. Not only did you not party, you didn't do anything. Goodness.

There may be a Part Two to this because Welcome Week technically starts tomorrow...

Get ready for all the exciting events!
