HeartSongs: When I Survey

There are so many beautiful and poignant Easter songs that it's pretty much impossible to choose just one. Songs about His sacrifice, His crucifixion, His resurrection and the ultimate joy and gratitude we should feel because of all of it.

I must confess that when it comes to Easter versus Christmas songs when choosing favorites, this springtime holiday wins every time. There are just so many great ones. That make you think and wonder and hurt. I don't deserve this. Everything I've done has warranted punishment, but on menot the murder of a man so perfect. And to think he died because of something I did flippantly or carelessly or, even worse, on purpose.
I'm sorry.

What words are there to describe the pure love and thankfulness we should have for our Savior? What words are there to describe the love He had to sacrifice Himself for us? There really aren't any, but hymns can be a good place to start.

Christ has risen. He is risen indeed.

HeartSongs: The Love of God

-- gorgeous --

I'm a big fan of master wordsmithery and wielding pens like swords and all that, so when these lyrics were quoted during a message from our shepherd at GOC, I nearly died on the spot. The language, the syntax, the vocabulary. *hum of contentment* It's beautiful. And beautifully expressed.

HeartSongs: Hallelujah, What a Savior!

-- thankful. --

Hope you're enjoying your Sunday! It's a little over 80 degrees here today and I got to have sushi for lunch with Apt 213-- *grins* I declare today to be an excellent one by far.

HeartSongs: All I Have is Christ

-- Something that's been on my mind lately --

Where would we be without His mercy and grace?

I am thankful.

HeartSongs: Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Hymns are by far one of the best ways to worship.

Sometimes, while I'm singing, there'll be one or two lines {or sometimes even an entire verse} that stand out and just have me falling silent in contemplation.

I wanted to share some of my favorites, so today is the start of a new series! I haven't decided what to call it yet, but basically, every Sunday I'll post a few lines from either a long time favorite or something that stood out to me that week {in either GOC on Friday or at GCC on Sunday}. *laughs* I'm on a roll now that I started-- I've already completed four of these, so I'm set until February. But I'm excited! It's a combination of two of my favorite things: lyrics and typography. Hope you like it!
